COIDENTITY
A collaboration between Indonesian designer Dian Pelangi and London-based textile designers; Odette Steele and Nelly Rose. The joint collection is a merger of the trio's cultural backgrounds - from clashing modern colours and prints by Nelly to African influenced embroideries and beadings by Odette, all unified through Dian’s cutting-edge designs which accurately reflect Indonesia’s lavish batik, weavings and tie-dyes. The objective was to challenge global perceptions on modest wear, whilst bridging the gap between its fashion scene and the mainstream market. Producing an all inclusive womenswear collection relatable to women globally; regardless of its spiritual significance, this project should also be understood in terms of lifestyle, cultural identity, personal preference, aesthetics and arts.
